Bearcat baseball travels to Oklahoma for four game set with Northwestern Oklahoma State

The Northwest Missouri State University baseball team will take to the diamond in Alva, Okla., for a four-game set at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Northwest began the season last weekend with four games in Arkansas, going 1-3. Northwest dropped game one to Henderson State 5-1, then dropped a close one to No. 2 Southern Arkansas 5-4, the Bearcats then secured their first win of the year with a 5-2 victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State and ultimately dropping the weekend finale to East Central 4-2.
 
Senior outfielder Ryan Koski was named to the Duggan Invitational All-Tournament team after posting a .500 batting average on the weekend. Koski went 7-14 with three extra base hits including a homerun. Koski has a .857 SLG and .533 OBP through after one weekend of action.
 
Junior DJ Heck had a productive weekend at the plate slashing .429 with six hits all singles, while driving in a run.
 
Junior pitcher Zach Wiese only surrendered one earned run in 5.0 innings in his start vs. No. 2 Southern Arkansas. Wiese Struck out four hitters and owns a 1.80 ERA.
 
Senior pitcher Max Spitzmiller moved to fourth all-time in program history in innings pitched after going 7.0 innings in his start at Henderson State. Spitzmiller gave up two earned runs, striking out five while giving up no walks.

Junior reliever Quinn Mason struck out six hitters while only giving up one hit in 3.0 innings of work last weekend.
 
Northwest ranks third in the MIAA in ERA with a 3.71 ERA.
 
Northwest also holds the third best fielding-percentage in the MIAA with a .979 fielding-percentage.
 
Northwest is 4-2 all-time vs. Northwestern Oklahoma State with the last meeting coming in February of 2017.
