Women's DMR sets meet record in claiming MIAA crown

PITTSBURG, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State indoor track and field teams competed on day two of the MIAA Indoor Championships.
 
The Northwest women came in first place in the 4,000 meter distance medley relay as Whitney Post, Olivia Sattlefield, Kaylee Harp, and Alyna Thibault earned a time of 11:51.96. This time is the third fastest in school history and an NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying time. It set an MIAA meet record in the women's DMR.
 
The men's 4,000 meter distance medley relay finished second overall as the team of Jake Norris, Danny Jantzen, Yemane Kifle, and Reece Smith recorded a time of 9:52.65 which is the sixth best in school history and an NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying time.
 
David Hipshire threw a new personal record in the men's weight throw with a distance of 55' 1" (16.80m) to give him a 13th place overall finish.
 
Northwest had three top-ten finishers in the men's high jump. Blake Morgan placed fourth overall with a mark of 6' 11.75" (2.13m). Miles Griffith placed seventh with a jump of 6' 7.5" (2.02m), and Jonathan Carter placed 10th with a mark of 6' 5.5" (1.97m). Morgan and Griffith both earned NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying marks.
 
Luisarys Toledo earned a fourth place finish in the women's long jump with a distance of 19' 0.25" (5.80m) which is an NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying mark.
 
Caroline Cunningham earned a second place finish in the women's 5,000 meter run as she came in with a time of 17:30.98. Amber Owens earned a fourth place finish as she recorded a time of 17:49.00.
 
Joel Dos Santos placed seventh overall in the men's long jump with a mark of 23' 3.25" (7.09m).
 
In the men's 5,000 meter run Drew Atkins placed eighth overall coming in at 14:44.31.
 
Ally Hammond posted the fourth fastest time in the 60 meter hurdles qualifying round with a time of 8.59. This time not only moves her onto the finals Sunday, but it is also a new personal best. Hammond also qualified for the finals in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.51. Both times are NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying times.
 
Northwest had two qualifiers in the men's 60 meter dash as Joel Dos Santos placed fifth running a time of 6.85, and Dominic Sedlacek placed eighth coming in at 6.86 setting a new personal best. Both times are NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying times.
 
The Bearcats had three runners qualify for the finals in the women's 400 meter dash as Tiffany Hughey took first in 54.53, Kennedi Cline took second in 54.93, and Chloe Saenz took fourth in 55.15. Cline's time is a new personal record and moves her to No. 4 in the school record books. All three times are NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying times.
 
Truman Hare and Prince Griffin both qualified for the finals in the men's 400 meter dash. Hare finished second as he crossed the finish in 46.85 which is a new personal best and moves him up to No. 2 in school history. Griffin finished fifth with a time of 47.27 which is also a new personal best and puts him at No. 3 in school history. Both are NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying times.
 
Northwest had three qualifiers in the women's 600 yard run. Luisarys Toledo earned a first place finish as she came in at 1:22.54. Jaedy Commins placed fifth with a time of 1:24.57, and Haley Luna placed sixth as she crossed the finish in 1:24.65 recording a personal best and moving up to No. 6 in Northwest history in the event.
 
R.J. Williams took first place in the men's 600 yard run as he earned a time of 1:10.82. That is the second fastest time in school history. Fedrico Crisci finished eighth overall coming in at 1:12.18. Both have qualified for the finals.
 
Northwest went three, four, five in the women's 800 meter run to qualify three runners for the finals. Bailey Blake came in at 2:12.01, Lydia McGlocklin came in at 2:13.59, and Kaylee Harp came in at 2:12.28. All three earned NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying times.
 
The 'Cats had three runners qualify for the finals in the women's 200 meter dash. Tiffany Hughey placed second with a time of 24.35, Kennedi Cline placed third as she earned a time of 24.40, and Luisarys Toledo placed sixth as she crossed the finish in 24.48. All times are NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying times.
 
Joel Dos Santos placed second overall in the men's 200 as he qualified for the finals with a time of 21.44. This is now the second fastest time in school history and an NCAA Div. II Provisional Qualifying time.
