SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The No. 16-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team scored a 6-1 dual win over the Drury Panthers at the Cooper Indoor Courts on Friday night.
Northwest improved its record to 3-2. Drury fell to 4-2 on the season.
Drury took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. The Panthers tallied wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Northwest's No. 3 doubles pairing of
Andrea Zamurri and
Fillippo Piranomonte posted a 6-4 win over Drury's Louka Queguiner and Tjade Bruns.
The Bearcats bounced back strong in singles play by winning all six matches to take the dual, 6-1.
No. 30-ranked
Michael Delebois scored a straight-sets win over Drury's Marlon Wilken at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 7-5.
Jan Skerbatis also took care of business at No. 4 singles with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Drury's Tjade Bruns.
Piranomonte made quick work of Queguiner at No. 5 singles with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
Top-seeded and No. 33-ranked
Andrea Zamurri went the distance with Drury's No. 38-ranked Sylvain Garin-Michaud. Zamurri came out on top in a third-set tiebreaker, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6.
Mason Meier recorded a three-set win at No. 6 singles with a 10-4 win in the super tiebreaker.
Fabien Calloud claimed an injury default win over Drury's Yaroslav at No. 2 singles, 3-6, 2-0.
