Bearcats shine in Senior Day victory over Lions, 75-64

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 2-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team scored Senior Day victory over the Missouri Southern Lions, 75-64.

Northwest won its 13th straight game in moving to 27-2 overall and 20-2 in MIAA action. Missouri Southern fell to 16-12 overall and 12-10 in league play. Northwest becomes only the second MIAA school to reach 20 league wins in a season, joining the 2020-21 Bearcats which won 21 MIAA contests.

Northwest captured its 15th straight home win in Bearcat Arena. Northwest is 14-0 at home this season.

Diego Bernard put up a game-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting after being honored prior to the game in his final regular season home appearance. Bernard handed out four assists, grabbed three steals and tallied three rebounds. He knocked in 2-of-3 from three-point range.

Wes Dreamer buried a trio of three-pointers and scored 15 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and a steal.

Luke Waters posted an 11-point performance as he didn't miss a shot from the field. Waters knocked in both of his three-point shots.

Northwest will be the No. 1 seed in the 2023 MIAA Tournament. The Bearcats will play the first quarterfinal game Thursday at Noon at Municipal Auditorium against the winner of the Washburn-Missouri Western first-round contest.
