Bearcats blow by Bronchos, 97-50

The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team had a dominating performance against Central Oklahoma as the 'Cats defeated the Bronchos 97-50.
 
The Bearcats improved to 14-13 overall and 9-12 in the MIAA.
 
UCO scored first possession of the game but then went on a 5:39 scoring drought while the Bearcats put up 12 unanswered points forcing a Broncho timeout with 4:04 to go in the first. During the scoring run by the 'Cats, they also forced 4 early turnovers.
 
Northwest led UCO, 19-4, at the end of the first quarter. The Bearcats shot 57.1% in the quarter while forcing 7 turnovers.
 
In the second quarter Central Oklahoma cut the Northwest lead to nine points, but the 'Cats responded with a 9-0 scoring run to open the lead back up to 35-17.
 
Lindsey Kelderman was on fire the entire half as she hit back to back threes to extend the Bearcat lead to 22 points with the score at 41-19 with 2:37 to go in the half. The threes were Kelderman's third and fourth of the night as she was a perfect 4-for-4 in the first half.
 
Northwest outscored the Bronchos 23-17 in the second quarter to take a 42-21 lead into halftime.
 
Lindsey Kelderman led the team with 14 first half points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field, 4-of-4 from deep, and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Kelsey Field added 10 points and seven rebounds in the half.
 
The Bearcats were 16-of-29 from the field in the half at 55.2%, and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc at 62.5%. Northwest held the Bronchos to 9-of 27 from the field and 0-for-3 from three. Northwest outrebounded Central Oklahoma 20-13 in the half.
 
The 'Cats continued to dominate the game as they outscored UCO 24-17 in the third quarter.
 
Kelsey Fields recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she grabbed her 10th rebound with just under four minutes left in the third quarter to go along with her 14 points.
 
Lindsey Kelderman set her new career-high in three pointers made in a game as she nailed her fifth three of the night to close out the third quarter.
 
The Bearcats drained five three-pointers in the fourth quarter as they outscored Central Oklahoma 31-12 in the quarter.
 
Northwest posted a dominant 97-50 victory over UCO. This is the most points the team has scored in a game this season.

Lindsey Kelderman led all scorers with a career-high 25 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field, 7-of-7 from three, 2-for-2 from the charity stripe, and tallied two steals. No other player in Div. II this season had made more than 6-of-6 attempts from three-point range. Kelderman has tied the Northwest school record for three-point field goal percentage in a game (minimum five field goals made) as her perfect mark of 7-of-7 joins Erika Schlosser's mark of 5-for-5 that was set Nov. 24, 2018.
 
Four other Bearcats hit double-digit scoring as Kelsey Fields was second on the team in scoring with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Fields was 8-of-10 from the field. Caely Kesten set a career-high with 17 points and a team-high five assists. Jayna Green added 12 points to go along with 4 blocks and two steals. Emma Atwood tallied 10 points and eight rebounds.
 
Northwest shot a season-high 54.7% from the field as the team made 35-of-64 shot attempts. Northwest also shot a season-high 60.9% from three in the contest. The Bearcats outrebounded the Bronchos by 15 and forced UCO into 18 turnovers.
 
As a team, the 'Cats were 14-of-23 from beyond the three point line for 60.9%. The last time Northwest shot more than 60% from three was Jan. 9, 2016, when the team shot 60.0% connecting on 9-of-15 attempts at Missouri Western.
