JOPLIN, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State baseball team dropped a low scoring affair vs. McKendree, 2-1.
Northwest falls to 2-9 and McKendree goes to 1-5.

Alex Slocum got the start for the Bearcats; Slocum went 5.0 innings giving up no runs on five hits while striking out three and walking no one.

It was a pitcher dual through 5.5 innings until McKendree broke through off the Bearcat bullpen in the bottom of the sixth, McKendree plated two runs on an error to take a 2-0 lead.

Northwest got one back in the bottom of the top of the eighth when
Cole Slibowski lifted a solo home run to left field to get the Bearcats within one.
Slibowski and
Trey Morris both tallied two hits on the afternoon.

Northwest put runners on the corners with two outs in the ninth but couldn't get one across.

Andrew Clark was credited with the loss.

The Bearcats tallied six hits and left six runners on base.

Northwest opens up MIAA Conference play with a trip to Central Missouri next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
