A trio of Northwest Missouri State University indoor track & field performers have been honored as MIAA Athletes of the Week.
Junior sprinter/hurdler
Ally Hammond (Parkville, Mo.), sophomore runner
Maxime Touron (St. Adams de Pellegal, France) and senior high jumper
Blake Morgan (Kirksville, Mo.) all earned MIAA Athlete of the Week accolades for their efforts at the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic in the Hughes Fieldhouse.
Hammond put up a pair of NCAA Div. II provisional marks at the Tjeerdsma Classic. Hammond captured first-place honors in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.62. She then won the 60-meter hurdles with a clocking of 8.70.
Touron registered the nation's best time in the 800 meters at the Tjeerdsma Classic. Touron flew around the Hughes Fieldhouse track for a school-record time of 1:50.47 as he won the event.
Morgan tallied the nation's best mark in the high jump at the Tjeerdsma Classic. Morgan notched a personal best 7'0.5" to win the event. His leap ranks second-best in the program's indoor history.
