No. 21 Bearcats look real nice; Clarke falls, 100-44

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 21-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team rolled to a 100-44 victory over the Clarke University Pride Saturday afternoon at Bearcat Arena.

Senior Wes Dreamer put up 30 first-half points in 16 minutes of action and the Bearcats shot 60.7% from the floor in moving to 9-3 overall. Northwest reached the 100-point mark for the 18th time in head coach Ben McCollum's career.

Playing its first game in 14 days, Northwest came out firing in building an insurmountable 28-1 lead only seven minutes into its matchup with Clarke. The Pride missed its first eight shots, while the Bearcats connected on 10 of their first 12 field goal attempts. Dreamer accounted for 16 of Northwest's first 28 points in the game.

Northwest led by as many as 45 points in the first half at 57-12 with 1:21 left until intermission. Northwest would take a 60-16 lead to the break.

Northwest's lead never dipped below 47 points in the second half as the Bearcats stayed perfect at home this season for its fifth straight triumph in Bearcat Arena.

Northwest had five players reach double-figure scoring including Dreamer's game-high 30 points. Mitch Mascari knocked in 12 points on four three-pointers. Daniel Abreu tallied 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor. Blake Danitschek etched his first double-figure game with 10 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Luke Moustakas posted 10 points to go along with a pair of assists. Isaiah Jackson handed out a game-high nine assists to go along with eight points and four rebounds.

The Bearcats buried a season-high 37 field goals - marking only the second team this season they have made 30 or more field goals in a single game. Northwest made 31 field goals in an 83-53 win at Nebraska-Kearney on Dec. 9.

Northwest will return to MIAA play later this week with matchups at Northeastern State (Thursday, 7:30 p.m.) in Tahlequah, Okla., and at Rogers State (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) in Claremore, Okla. The Bearcats maintain first place in the MIAA standings at 5-1 in league action.
