Woerth tops Bearcat win chart; Northwest sweeps Fort Hays State

MARYVILLE, Mo. – MARYVILLE, Mo. - The Northwest Missouri State University volleyball squad closed out its senior day with a 3-0 sweep of the Fort Hays State Tigers, the triumph allowed head coach Amy Woerth to become the program's all-time wins leader with 200 victories.
 
Northwest moves to 15-11 and 10-8 in conference play.
 
Northwest hit a season high .459 in the three-set sweep of the Tigers, that ranks as the fourth best attacking percentage in program history, Northwest tallied 55 kills in the match.
 
Northwest took set one with a score of 25-18. Freshman Gabrielle Gartner had six kills on nine swings hitting .666 in the set, Gartner tallied 12 kills for the match while hitting .500. Olivia Dir and Avery Kemp added four kills apiece. Northwest hit .400 in the set while holding the Tigers to .268.
 
The Bearcats hit a scorching .621 in set two winning 25-15. Avery Kemp was credited with six kills on seven swings, Kemp had a game high 15 kills while hitting a blistering .625. Northwest sided out 14/15 times in set two for a side out percentage of 93%, Northwest held Fort Hays to a .188 hitting percentage in the set.
 
Peyton Kirchhoefer was a spark off the bench in the third set tallying six kills on 12 swings and three digs. Olivia Dir was credited with eight digs in the set and had a game high 13, Dir tallied 10 kills as well for her third double-double of the season. Northwest hit .400 while holding Fort Hays to .135. Northwest hit above .400 in all three sets for the first time all season. Northwest closed out the match winning the third set by a score of 25-14.
 
Ella Caffery had career best 52 assists which is second best in program history in a three-set match.
 
Northwest honored Lauren Casey before the match as she played her last home regular season game in her career.
