Former Northwest Missouri State and National Football League member Seth Wand will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 18 in Springfield, Mo.
The Springfield, Mo., native, and Springfield Catholic High School graduate will gain induction into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame at its Fall Sports Luncheon presented by Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Company. While at Northwest, Wand was an offensive tackle for the Bearcats from 1999 to 2002 and graduated in 2003 with a degree in management information systems. He allowed only one sack at Northwest in his three seasons as a starter at left tackle and garnered many accolades throughout his college career. He was named an All-American first team selection by the NFL Draft Report and competed in the 2003 Senior Bowl. He was named a first team all-MIAA offensive tackle, and twice he was named first team all-American by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) and the American Football Coaches Association. He was also an Associated Press Little All-American.
Wand was drafted in the third round with the 75th overall pick in the National Football League draft by the Houston Texans. Wand would go on to play 53 games in the NFL. Wand took part in 45 games in Houston and drew 18 starts. He started all 16 games at left tackle for the Texans in the 2004 season. After spending 2003 to 2005 with the Texans, he played for the Tennessee Titans in 2006 and moved over to the Oakland Raiders organization in 2007 and 2008. He also played professionally in the United Football League with the Florida Tuskers.
