Northwest Missouri State University sophomore linebacker Carter Olesen has been selected as the MIAA Football Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Olesen (Pleasant Hill, Iowa/Southeast Polk HS) tallied five tackles, two tackles-for-loss, a sack and an interception in Northwest's 52-31 road win over Washburn.

In his fourth career start, Olesen recorded a sack on Northwest's first defensive play of the game. He added an interception on Washburn's fifth offensive play of the game.

Northwest (5-4 overall) will travel to Northeastern State University (1-8 overall) Saturday for a 2 p.m. kick at Doc Wadley Stadium in Tahlequah, Okla.
