Bearcat indoor track & field season to feature three home meets

The 2023-24 Northwest Missouri State University indoor track and field season will feature three home meets in the state-of-the-art Hughes Fieldhouse.

This year's events will feature the Mel Tjeerdsma Classic (Dec. 2), the Coach Richard Alsup Open (Jan. 20) and the Bearcat Invite (Feb. 1-3).

The running events take place on a 300-meter Beynon BSS 300 surface with six lanes on the oval and eight lanes on the straights. The jumping areas are Beynon BSS 300. The pole vault is contested on a Mondo covered, Gill raised runway on the infield. Throwing events are staged off a wooden platform on the infield.

Men's Long Jump Board – 3m
Women's Long Jump Board – 3m
Men's Triple Jump Board – 12.5m
Women's Triple Jump Board – 9.5m

Last year's indoor season at the Hughes Fieldhouse featured 163 NCAA Division II provisional marks, 75 NAIA A/B standard marks and 41 NJCAA national marks.

This year's NCAA Division II national championship meet will be held in Pittsburg, Kan., on a 300-meter track, so fans can expect this year's Bearcat Invite on Feb. 1-3 to be a large meet featuring high-level competition. At last year's Bearcat Invite, there were 89 Div. II provisional marks and 45 NAIA A/B standards hit.
