Bearcats enjoy productive day at Northwest Open

The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's track and field team returned to their home track for the second time this season with Saturday's Northwest Open. 

Senior Caroline Cunningham set a new school-record and field house-record in the women's mile with a time of 4:53.39 breaking her previous record of 4:53.54 set last February. That time is also good for the NCAA Div. II provisional mark and is good for third best in the nation based off times prior to this weekend.

Cunningham also took first place in the women's 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:54.34. That is good for the school record which she set in February of last year with a time of 9:59.99. That time is also good for the NCAA Div. II provisional mark. Caroline is also ranked third in the Central region based on results before this weekend.

The Bearcat quartet of Kennedi Cline, Bailey Blake, Jaedy Commins and Kaylee Harp and took first place in the women's 4x400-meter relay with a meet-record breaking time of 3:50.00 which is eighth best all time in program history. Northwest had another team of Chloe SaenzOlivia Sattlefield, Haley Luna and Lydia McGlocklin take second place with a meet-breaking time of 3:52.01.

Riley Witt finished fourth in the men's mile with a time of 4:08.27. Witt now ranks third in program history and ranks first in the MIAA and the Central Region based on results prior to this weekend. This time is also a NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time.

Ally Hammond finished in third place in the women's 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.87. Sarah Prickett finished in fourth with a time of 9.03.

Enrico Cavagna placed second in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83 which is an NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time and also good for fourth best in program history. Cavagna also finished in third place in the men;'s 200-meter dash with a time of 21.76 which is good for ninth best in program history.

Ally Hammond and Lexie Gilbert went one-two in the women's 60-meter dash. Hammond ran a NCAA Div. II qualifying time of 7.61 to take the title. Gilbert ran a personal best 7.67 which ranks fifth best in program history.

Kaylee Harp finished in first in the women's 800-meter dash with a time of 2:12.82. That time is a NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time and is good for fourth best in program history defeating her previous best of 2:13.36. Harp also sits fourth in the nation based on results prior to this weekends times. Bailey Blake finished third in the 800-meters with a time of 2:13.31, also a NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time.  Lydia McGlocklin finished in fourth with a time of 2:13.50, also a NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time.

Tiffany Hughey set the meet record and school record in the women's 400-meter run en route to a first-place time of 53.82 breaking her previous record of 54.02. That mark is a NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time and ranks second best in the nation based on results prior to this weekends performances. 
Kennedi Cline finished in second in the women's 400-meter run with a time of 55.59 which ranks fifth best in the nation based on results prior to this weekends performances, also a NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying time.  Chloe Saenz took third with a time of 57.39.

Zach Pittman took second in the men's 600 yard run with a time of 1:13.33

Jaedy Commins took second in the women's 600 yard run with a time of 1:25.79.

Tiffany Hughey, Luisarys Toledo, and Kennedi Cline go one, two, three in the women's 200-meter dash. Hughey and Toledo set NCAA Div. provisional qualifying marks. Hughey ran a personal best 24.20, which is good for second all time in school history and fourth best in the nation. Toledo also ran a personal best 24.44 which ranks third fastest in school history and seventh in the nation.

Reece Smith took the title in the men's 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:20.20.

Blake Morgan earned a third-place finish in the men's high jump as he jumped 6'08.75" (2.05m) and produced an NCAA Div. II provisional qualifying mark.

Joel Dos Santos earned a first-place finish in the men's long jump with a jump of 22-08.00 (6.91m).

Kyla Davis earned a second-place finish in the triple jump with a jump of 34-00.00 (10.36m).

Northwest will compete again at the Bearcat Invite in Hughes Field house, February 2nd - 4th.
