The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team used a strong second half scoring run to defeat the Newman Jets, 67-53.

The Bearcats are now 9-7 overall and 4-6 in conference play.

In just four minutes of action,
Lauren Eiman recorded a new career-high in points as she had eight early on 4-of-5 shooting.

Northwest was on top after one quarter as they led the Jets, 17-13. The Bearcats shot a blistering 57.1% in the quarter knocking down 8-of-14 shot attempts.

At the half, Northwest remained in the lead, 35-29. The Bearcats shot 50.0% in the second quarter bringing their first half total to 53.6% from the field. Northwest had a one rebound advantage over Newman. The biggest difference in the half was bench scoring. Northwest had 17 bench points in the first twenty minutes of action compared to the Jets four points.

Lauren Eiman continued to find the bottom of the net for the 'Cats as she led the team in scoring at the half with 12 points along with three rebounds.
Ella Moody added six points for Northwest.

Newman was carried by Britney Ho who had 18 first half points for the Jets.

The Jets opened the third quarter with a 5-0 run to close in on the Northwest lead, 35-34, and force an early Bearcat timeout. Newman took the lead moments after the timeout and built it to 38-35, but Northwest finally got on the board in the second half after four minutes of action with a
Lindsey Kelderman three-pointer to tie things up at 38 apiece. Kelderman followed it up with another triple the next possession to get the Bearcats back on top at 41-38.

Newman then went on an 8-0 run to take its largest lead of the game at 46-41. Northwest answered with a 4-0 run to close the quarter as the Jets led 46-45 after three quarters.

The Bearcats opened the fourth quarter strong as they went on an 16-4 run to retake the lead, 61-50 with just under three minutes to play.

Over the final 12 minutes of the second half, Northwest went on 26-7 run to secure a second straight victory defeating Newman, 67-53.

Lindsey Kelderman and
Molly Hartnett led Northwest with 13 points each. Kelderman was 3-of-3 from downtown and 5-of-7 from the field.
Lauren Eiman posted a new career-high scoring night as she finished with 12 points.
Jayna Green added eight points, a team-high six rebounds, two steals, and one block to make her the new all-time career block leader at Northwest. Green now has 123 career blocks.Â

Northwest shot a blistering 40% from beyond the arc as they connected on 6-of-15 three-point attempts. The Bearcats forced 20 turnovers and converted 25 points off of the turnovers.

Northwest returns to Bearcat Arena next week to take on No. 5 Central Missouri followed by Lincoln.
