For the fourth consecutive year, the Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team will be represented at the ITA Cup after senior Mason Meier and freshman Jan Skerbatis captured the ITA Central Region men's double title on Sunday in Edmond, Okla.
 
Meier and Skerbatis took down their teammates the No. 2-seeded duo of Andrea Zamurri and Fillippo Piranomonte in the semifinals, 8-5. Then the Bearcat duo took care of the No. 4-seeded pair from Washburn in Sebastain Pjontek and Tim Hammes. Meier and Skerbatis won the first set, but dropped the second to force a 10-point tiebreaker to determine the regional champions. Meier and Skerbatis were more than up to the task as they pulled out a 10-8 triumph to secure a trip to the ITA Cup.
 
Michael Delebois dropped a three-set semifinal matchup with Harding's Teodor Zlatar. Delebois won the first set, but saw Zlatar rally to take a second-set tiebreaker by the count of 7-4. Zlatar held off Delebois in the third, 6-4.
 
Jan Skerbatis lost a consolation match with No. 2-seeded Tim Hammes (Washburn), 5-4 (7-5), 4-1.
 
Sofia Pignataro reached the B singles final on Sunday. She defeated No. 10 seed Greta Wallin (Southern Arkansas) in the semifinals, 6-1, 6-7 (6-8), 1-0 (10-8). Pignataro dropped the B singles final to Northeastern State's Sandra Mari Marti.
 
Carolina Lima De Oliveira came up short in three sets in a consolation singles match with Harding's Karli Roux.
 
The 2022 ITA Cup is set for Oct. 12-15 in Rome, Ga.
