DENVER, Colo. - The No. 4-ranked MSU Denver Roadrunners handed the No. 10-ranked Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat volleyball team its first setback of the season in a four-set match at the 2022 Colorado Premier Challenge.
MSU Denver won by set scores of 25-23, 19-25, 25-14 and 25-14.
Payton Kirchhoefer posted her second career double-double with 11 kills and 22 digs. Kirchhoefer set a career-high with the 22 digs.
Avery Kemp secured 10 kills and was the only other Bearcat besides Kirchhoefer in double figures.
Alyssa Rezac tallied 31 assists to lead the squad. Abby Brunnsen was credited with a team-best four blocks.
MSU Denver improved to 6-0 on the season. The Roadrunners hit .259 with 57 kills and 20 attack errors. Northwest was held to .139 hitting with 41 kills and 22 attack errors. MSU Denver had 69 digs, while Northwest had 54 digs.
Northwest earned a spot in the Silver Bracket for second-place finishers in pool play. Northwest will match up against No. 3-ranked Western Washington Saturday at 12:30 p.m. (CT). If the Bearcats win against WWU, Northwest would play in the Silver Bracket title match at 6 p.m. (CT) against the winner of the Regis/West Florida match. If Northwest falls to WWU, the Bearcats would play the loser of the Regis/West Florida match at 3:30 p.m. (CT).
