Bearcat golfers picked seventh in preseason MIAA poll

The MIAA has announced the results of the 2022-23 MIAA Women's Golf Preseason Coaches Poll.

The Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat women's golf team was selected seventh in the preseason MIAA coaches poll. Northwest will open the fall 2022 season Tuesday and Wednesday at the Central Region Fall Preview. The tournament will be played at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo.

Central Missouri claimed the top spot on the poll with a league-best six first place votes.
 
The Jennies were tabbed the favorites for the upcoming MIAA women's golf season with 94 total points and six first place selections. Just three points behind UCM was Rogers State in the No. 2 spot with 91 points and four first place votes.
 
Defending MIAA Champions Nebraska Kearney was picked third in the poll was 82 points while Central Oklahoma finished fourth with 77 points and the final first place nod. Northeastern State rounded out the top-five with 64 points.
 
It was a close battle for the next four positions in the poll. Missouri Western was selected No. 6 with 42 points, Northwest Missouri was seventh with 41 points, Fort Hays State tabbed the eighth spot with 40 points and Missouri Southern was finished ninth with 38 points. Newman and Lincoln concluded the poll in 10th and 11th respectively.
 
The 2022-23 MIAA women's golf season is officially underway. The first meeting of all 11 MIAA teams will take place on Monday, September 26, at Fort Hays State's Lady Tiger Classic.
