Soccer pegged at No. 4 in preseason MIAA poll

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association announced its 2022 MIAA Women's Soccer Preseason Coaches Poll. Central Missouri, defending MIAA regular season champions, was tabbed the league favorite.
 
Soccer Preseason Poll - 2022The Jennies were the unanimous favorites with 121 points and 11 first place votes. Central Missouri went 9-1-1 in the league and 20-4-1 overall last season. The reigning MIAA tournament champions, Emporia State, was selected second in the poll with 105 points and the remaining first place vote. The Hornets ended their 2021 campaign with a league record of 9-2 and 19-3-1 overall.
 
Close behind the Hornets was Central Oklahoma in third with 103 points, followed by Northwest Missouri in fourth with 93 points. Both the Bronchos and Bearcats posted an 8-2-1 record in the MIAA last season while UCO went 13-5-3 overall and NW finished 13-7-1 in 2021. Missouri Western capped the top-five with 75 points. The Griffons went 6-5 in the MIAA last season and 9-8-2 overall.
 
Northeastern State was picked sixth in the poll with 66 points, Fort Hays State was tabbed seventh with 61 points and Washburn finished eighth with 60 points. Rogers State finished ninth following by Missouri Southern in 10th and Newman in 11th. Nebraska Kearney concluded the poll in 12th.
 
The first matches of the 2022 season begin on Thursday, August 25, with MIAA matches set to begin on Friday, September 9. To see the complete schedule for each team in the MIAA, click here
