EMPORIA, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State University put its final touches on the 2022 MIAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Sunday at Fran Welch Stadium and Zola Witten Track on the Emporia State University campus.

The Bearcat men finished seventh in the team standings, while the Northwest women placed ninth.

The Bearcats grabbed second and third place in the men's high jump from sophomore
Blake Morgan (Kirksville, Mo.) and junior
Jonathan Carter (Papillion, Neb.) Morgan nabbed second place with a jump of 2.09m (6'10.25"), while Carter took third with a personal-best of 2.03m (6'8").

Junior
Dakota Schmidt (Platte City, Mo.) produced a school-record performance in the men's javelin. Schmidt broke his own Bearcat mark with a toss of 64.95m (213'1") to take third place in the competition. Schmidt's heave ranks No. 10 this season among NCAA Division II participants. The top 13 finishers in the men's javelin scored NCAA provisional marks on Sunday.

Prince Griffin (Independence, Mo.) notched seventh in the men's 400m final. Williams posted a time of 47.91 and Griffin scored a 48.26. The Bearcat duo added six team points.

Chloe Saenz (Kansas City, Mo.) earned a third-place finish in the women's 400m final with a personal-best time of 54.73. Her time ranks as the fourth-best in Northwest's outdoor program history. Saenz's time in the final ranks No. 13 in the nation this spring.
