Former Northwest Missouri State University kicker Simon Mathiesen has earned a National Football League camp invite from the Dallas Cowboys.
Mathiesen, a native of Vedbaek, Denmark, served as the Bearcat placekicker from 2013-2016. He scored 420 career points, which ranks second all-time in school history. Mathiesen connected on 61-of-74 career field goals and 237-of-243 career extra points for the Bearcats. He was a two-time first-team all-MIAA kicker. Mathiesen was a 2016 nominee for the William V. Campbell Trophy (Academic Heisman). He holds the Northwest single-season field goals made record of 25 set in 2015.
Mathiesen has stayed in contact with the sport of football through his employment with TrackMan Football. In his role, he is responsible for sales, product testing/development and broadcast operations for the TrackMan football division. TrackMan provides ball tracking data through Doppler radar technology with emphasis on helping improve the performance and evaluation of the kicking game and special teams play. In television broadcasts, NBC uses the ball data for field goals for their Sunday Night Football NFL games which is referred to as "SNF Kicks". TrackMan is known for being an integral part of the performance-driven data revolution in specifically baseball and golf over the last 5-10 years.
