Bearcats add two more All-America efforts on final day of 2022 NCAA outdoor championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The final day of the 2022 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships was filled with All-America performances by a pair of Northwest Missouri State University student-athletes.
 
Junior Dakota Schmidt (Platte City, Mo.) secured second-team All-America honors in the men's javelin. Schmidt took 11th-place with his best throw coming in the third round at 64.03m (210'1"). It is the second straight year that Schmidt has earned second-team All-America status in the javelin. He placed 12th a season ago.
 
Sophomore Kaylee Harp (Harrisonville, Mo.) produced her first All-America effort of her collegiate career with a ninth-place tally in the women's 800-meter race. Harp ran a time of 2:11.18 in Saturday's final.
 
Sophomore Reece Smith (Garner, Iowa) earned a 13th-place finish in the men's 5,000-meter race. Smith raced in a time of 14:18.97 a day after he claimed the national championship in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The Northwest men scored 10 team points and tied for No. 23 in the final team standings. 
 
Under the direction of head coach Brandon Masters, Northwest produced four All-America efforts at the 2022 outdoor championships.

Dakota Schmidt, Men's Javelin – 11th Place (Second Team)
