MARYVILLE, Mo. – The No. 66-ranked Washburn University women's tennis team pulled an upset Saturday over the No. 41-ranked Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats on the Grube Courts at the Rosewell Tennis Center, 4-3.

The Ichabods (9-9 overall, 3-0 MIAA) gained the early advantage by taking the doubles point.
The Ichabods got wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to take a 1-0 lead.

Northwest was able to gain only three singles wins. No. 2
Tyffaine Pais recorded a three-set win over Washburn's Maja Jung (4-6, 6-3, 6-2). No. 3
Julia Aliseda also pulled out a three-set victory over Washburn's Svea Crohn (7-5, 2-6, 6-2). At No. 6 singles, Tessa Kwakeernaak withstood Washburn's Cadence Lynn in a third-set super tiebreaker, 10-5. Kwakernaak won the match, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5).

The No. 1 singles match also went three sets but Washburn's Marta Torres hung on for a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over Northwest's
Vera Alenicheva.
