Bearcats keep on tracking at Lindenwood's Dick Cochrane Classic

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University track & field teams took part in the 2022 Dick Cochrane Classic Saturday hosted by Lindenwood University.
 
Head coach Brandon Masters was pleased with the effort he saw on Saturday.
 
"We had a lot of good performances and we had some wins as well," Masters said. "We needed this meet this weekend to keep us progressing and training as we gear up for the MIAA Championships (May 6-8 – Emporia, Kan.)."
 
Ally Hammond and Lexie Gilbert became the fifth and sixth Bearcat women to run sub-12 second 100-meter dashes. Hammond ran a time of 11.94 in the final to place fifth. Gilbert ran 11.95 in the prelims and followed that up with 11.97 in the final.
 
The Bearcat women's 4x100 team of Chloe Saenz, Lexie Gilbert, Kyah Luhring and Ally Hammond notched the second-fastest time in school history (46.62). It ranks as the 16th-best time in the country this season. Northwest's quartet edged out Lincoln by .02 for the event victory.
 
Saenz also won the women's 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 56.93.
 
Sarah Prickett captured the women's 100-meter hurdle title with a time of 14.07. Prickett was one of four Bearcats to finish in the top-eight in the 100-meter hurdles final. Anna Gladstone took second place with a personal-best time of 15.03. Hannah Hatzenbuehler placed fifth with another personal best of 15.29. Shelby Butterfield took eighth.
 
R.J. Williams took home the title in the men's 400-meter dash. Williams covered the track in 49.34 to place first in the event.
 
The Bearcat placed first and second in the men's 200-meter dash. Joel Dos Santos claimed the crown with a time of 21.37, and teammate Prince Griffin took second with a clocking of 21.51. Dos Santos and Griffin each recorded personal-bests in the event.
 
Jonathan Carter won the men's high jump with a personal-best of 2.00m.
 
Aaron Brewster secured a personal-best and the sixth-best men's 100-meter dash time in outdoor program history (10.65).

The Northwest women claimed first, second and third in the javelin. Addison Long won the event with a throw of 37.75m. Josie Zeiger placed second (34.86m) and Addie Palser took third (34.69m).
 
Quinn Weakley placed second in the women's shot put. Weakley tallied a toss of 12.43m on her first throw of the competition.
 
Lisette Perez earned a second-place finish in the women's triple jump with a leap of 11.41m. She recorded her best jump on the day on her fifth attempt of the competition.

Kaitlin Peek posted a personal-best in the women's hammer throw. Peek notched sixth-place with a toss of 44.24m.

David Hipshire recorded a personal-best throw of 15.06m in the men's shot put. Hipshire notched his best throw on his fifth attempt of the competition to place second.

Hipshire also notched a personal-best in the men's hammer throw. Hipshire placed fifth with a heave of 44.03m.
