Bearcat men's track wins SBU Bearcat Invite team title

BOLIVAR, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University men's outdoor track and field squad won the Southwest Baptist Bearcat University Bearcat Invite with 91 team points.
 
Blake Morgan won the men's high jump with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 2.11m (6'11"). Morgan's jump was a personal best and ranks as the sixth-best outdoor high jump in program history. Morgan's previous outdoor best of 6'10.25" came May 16, 2021.
 
Reece Smith conquered the field in the men's 1,500-meter run with a 3:51.94 clocking.
 
Northwest's men's 4x100 relay team of Enrico Cavagna, Joel Dos Santos, Prince Griffin and Marcus Klein captured the event title with an NCAA provisional qualification time of 41.01. It ranks as the second-fastest time in Northwest's outdoor school history. The school record of 40.8 was set on May 8, 2008 by Kendall Wright, John Miles, Sheldon Cook and E.J. Falkner.
 
Sarah Prickett produced an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 14.21 in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Prickett earned a fifth-place finish in the event and a personal best.
 
The Bearcat men's 4x400 relay squad also took first place with a time of 3:17.05.
 
The Bearcat women's 4x100 relay squad notched a second-place finish with a time 46.95 – two-tenths off an NCAA provisional qualification. It is the fifth-best time in program history.
 
Junior Federico Crisci won the men's 400-meter dash in a personal-best time of 48.57. Freshman Samuel Maldonado took fourth in the 400-meters with a clocking of 49.79.
 
Sophomores Bailey Blake and Kaylee Harp finished first and second in the women's 800-meter run. Blake edged out Harp at the finish. Blake tallied a time of 2:12.56 and Harp was clocked at 2:12.69. Both runners missed the NCAA provisional qualification time of 2:12.24.
 
The Bearcat women's 4x400 relay took second with a time of 3:51.71, edged out for first by SBU's time of 3:51.55.
 
Junior Trevor Ramsdell was awarded a second-place finish in the men's 3,000-meter run. Ramsdell covered the distance in 9:01.70. Freshman Austin Goetsche secured fifth place with a time of 9:14.68.
 
Jaedy Commins took home a third-place finish in the women's 400-meter hurdles final. Commins was clocked at 1:03.91, which secured a personal-best for the redshirt freshman.
 
Sophomore Prince Griffin placed third in the men's 200-meter dash final with a time of 21.72. Junior R.J. Williams placed seventh (21.93).
 
Senior Marcus Klein tallied a fourth-place effort in the men's long jump. Klein had a jump of 7.28m (23'10.5").
 
Junior Amber Owens earned a fourth-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter run. Owens clocked in at 10:28.02 in the race.
 
Ian Richmond placed fourth in the pole vault with a jump of 4.75m.
 
Addison Long placed fifth overall in the women's javelin with a throw of 40.26m (132'1"), and teammate Josie Zeiger took seventh with a toss of 38.63m (126'9"). Long's previous career-best in the javelin was 39.79m (130'6"). The Div. II provisional qualifying standard for the women's javelin is 41.92m.
 
Freshman Enrico Cavagna placed seventh overall in the men's 100-meter final with a time of 10.71. In the men's 100-meter semifinals, Klein secured the fourth-best qualifying time for the finals (10.62), while Cavagna earned the eighth-best qualification (10.70). Klein narrowly missed an NCAA provisional time (10.55), but did record a personal-best in the semifinal heat. Klein did not run in the final.
 
Ally Hammond ran a personal-best 11.96 in the women's 100-meter final, which placed her fourth in the event final. Hammond had produced the fifth-best qualifying time in the women's 100-meter semifinals with a clocking of 12.20.
