Caroline Cunningham claimed the Northwest outdoor school record in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Cunningham cruised to a time of 10:29.75, which ranks as the third-best time in the nation this season among NCAA Division II competitors.
Cunningham bested the old Bearcat outdoor women's school record of 10:31.13 set by Brittany Poole on April 28, 2012, while improving on her NCAA provisional qualifying time. Cunningham's previous best time in the 3,000m steeplechase was 10:57.69, which she ran on March 19 at the ESU Spring Invite in Emporia, Kan.
Cunningham placed 11th in the race and second among NCAA Division II runners. West Texas A&M's Eleonara Curtabbi placed fourth with a time of 10:09.85.
