WICHITA, Kan. - The No. 32-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team notched an MIAA/GAC dual victory over the Southeastern Oklahoma State University Savage Storm on Friday afternoon.
The Bearcats (7-4 overall) evened their MIAA dual mark at 2-2 with the victory. The Savage Storm dropped to 10-6 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA/GAC.
Northwest was able to secure the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Northwest's No. 1 doubles pairing of
Andrea Zamurri and
Fillippo Piranomonte scored a 6-2 win, while the No. 3 duo of
Fabien Calloud and
Franco Oliva captured a 6-2 victory.
Zamurri, ranked No. 13 in the nation, picked up a straight sets win over No. 43-ranked Manuel Pilotto, 6-4, 6-2 to set the tone in singles play.
Northwest would go on to win five of the six singles matches to take the dual, 6-1.
