Dos Santos wins long jump, earns NCAA provisional mark at ESU Relays

EMPORIA, Kan. – The Northwest Missouri State University track & field teams wrapped up action Saturday at the 2022 ESU Relays.
 
Joel Dos Santos produced an NCAA provisional mark as he captured the title in the men's long jump. Dos Santos notched a jump of 7.40m (24'3.5"), which ranks as the ninth-best jump in Northwest's outdoor history.
 
Caroline Cunningham secured a third-place performance in the women's 1,500-meter run (4:35.23), which also ranks as the second-fastest time in school history. Cunningham also placed fifth in the women's 800-meter run (2:13.82.).
 
Amber Owens recorded the eighth-best time in school history in the 1,500-meter run (4:44.23).
 
Sarah Prickett missed an NCAA provisional qualifying time by .01 as she was clocked at 14.22 in the women's 100-meter hurdles. Prickett's time ranks as the second-fastest in Northwest's outdoor history.
 
Jada Shanklin captured the event win in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.71m (5'7.25").
 
Prince Griffin notched a third-place effort in the men's 400m (48.82).
 
Jaedy Commins secured a third-place time (1:04.95) in the women's 400-meter hurdles.
 
Dakota Schmidt earned an NCAA provisional mark in the men's javelin. Schmidt produced a fourth-place effort in the javelin with a toss of 61.23m (200'11").
 
Blake Morgan took fourth in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.99m (6'6.25").
 
Kaylee Harp took fifth in the women's 400m (57.68), while teammate Bailey Blake placed sixth (57.92).
 
The men's 4x100 relay squad of Enrico Cavagna, Joel Dos Santos, Prince Griffin and Marcus Klein placed fourth with a time of 41.32. The quartet locked in the seventh-best time in Northwest's outdoor history.
 
Northwest's men's 1,600 sprint medley squad of Aaron Brewster, R.J. Williams, Federico Crisci and Trevor Ramsdell captured first-place honors with a time of 3:29.43.
 
From a team scoring standpoint, the Bearcat women placed third (70 team points) and the men took fourth (74 team points).
