Northwest breaks school marks at Bearcat Invite

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Northwest Missouri State University indoor track & field squads broke a pair of school records and continued to nab NCAA provisional qualifying times and marks at the Bearcat Invite in Hughes Fieldhouse.
 
Jada Shanklin tied the school record in the women's high jump and posted an NCAA provisional jump of 5'10". Shanklin equaled the mark set by Jacschelle Sasser on Feb. 10, 1995. Shanklin's jump on Saturday ranks as the second-highest mark in the country.
 
Caroline Cunningham broke Northwest's women's 3,000m indoor school record by becoming the first Bearcat to run sub-10:00 in the 3,000 meters. Cunningham finished Saturday's race with at time of 9:59.99. The previous school record was set by Angela Adams at 10:01.50 on Feb. 28, 2010.
 
Sarah Prickett posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 8.83 in the women's 60m hurdles. It also marked a personal best for Prickett. It is the third-fastest 60m indoor hurdles time in Bearcat history.
 
Ally Hammond produced the fifth-best women's 60m hurdles clocking in program history with an 8.88 at the Bearcat Invite, and a personal best for her as well.
 
Hammond did nab an NCAA provisional time in the women's 60m dash. She flew down the track at 7.65, which was a personal best and ranks as the fourth-best time in the program's indoor history.
 
Bailey Blake secured her own NCAA provisional qualification with 2:13.24 in the women's 800 meters. Blake placed fourth in the event Saturday.
 
Luisarys Toledo posted the third-fastest women's 200m time (24.83) in school history as she took third place in the event. Toledo earned an NCAA provisional qualifying time with her effort in the 200m.
 
Chloe Saenz just missed an NCAA provisional time in the women's 400 meters. Saenz posted a time of 56.81 (provisional time is 56.80). It is a personal best for Saenz.
 
Blake Morgan captured the high jump title with his best jump coming at 6'11".
 
Reece Smith was crowned the men's 3,000m champion as he ruled the track with a time of 8:12.87.
