Softball preps for Drury Invite set for Saturday, Sunday

The Northwest Missouri State University softball team has adjusted its schedule for this upcoming weekend's Drury Classic.

Northwest will play all four of its games in the Drury Classic in Branson, Mo., at the Ballparks of America Field.

On Sunday, Northwest will take on Drury at 12 p.m., followed by Southwest Baptist at 2 p.m.

On Monday, Northwest and Drury will play a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.

Northwest (3-10) overall is coming off a 2-2 weekend at home. The Bearcats conquered No. 6 Minnesota State, 3-2 (6 inn.) and Minnesota Duluth, 9-1 (5 inn.).
 
Olivia Daugherty leads the Bearcat hitters with a .344 batting average. Daugherty is tied for the team lead in hits (11).
 
Jacee Winn is tied with Daugherty for the team lead in hits (11). Winn has been the toughest Bearcat to strikeout with only two strikeouts
 
Lauren Gray holds the team lead in OPS (.934) and slugging (.581). Gray has registered nine hits with seven of those going for extra bases. She has laced a team-best six doubles.
 
Aubrey Griffith leads the squad in home runs (2) and RBI (6).
 
Hannah Blackford has 10 hits and leads the team with three stolen bases in three attempts.
 
Breck Dickey worked the final four innings of Northwest's 3-2 win over Minnesota State. Dickey earned the win as she struck out eight Maverick batters. Dickey leads the team with 35 strikeouts this season.
 
Northwest went into last weekend having scored 16 total runs. Northwest produced 16 runs in its four games to double its run-scoring output to 32 on the season. The Bearcats are batting .241 with a .616 team OPS.
 
Northwest's team pitching ERA has been lowered from 8.06 to 7.08 to 6.70 through the first three weekends of the season.
 
The Bearcat defense made only 10 errors in 325 chances for a .969 fielding percentage.
