Northwest downs Clarke, 93-57

MARYVILLE, Mo. - The No. 4-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's basketball team knocked off some rust and scored a 93-57 non-conference victory over the Clarke University Pride at Bearcat Arena on Wednesday afternoon.

Northwest improved its record to 11-1 overall and 5-0 at home in Bearcat Arena with the 36-point triumph. 

The Bearcats began the game on a 21-2 in the first five and half minutes of action. Northwest took a 28-8 lead at the 8:20 mark of the first half and the lead never went below 20 the rest of the way. Northwest held a 48-21 lead at the break. 

The Bearcats out-scored the Pride in the second half, 45-36. Northwest held its largest lead of the game at 39 points with a 91-52 edge with 2:14 to play in the game.

Northwest shot 57.4% from the field for the game. It is the eighth time in 12 games that Northwest has shot 50% or better in a contest this season.

NOTES: Bearcat junior Wes Dreamer became Northwest's 28th member of the 1,000-point scoring club as he netted 16 points in the win ... Dreamer has tallied 1,011 points in his Bearcat career. He's also the 15th member of Northwest's 1,000 points/500 rebounds club ... all five Bearcat starters reached double figures in scoring led by sophomore Byron Alexander's 17 points ... senior Diego Bernard flirted with a triple-double with 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists ... Northwest won the rebounding battle, 41-22 ... Northwest has out-rebounded 11 of its 12 opponents and is 11-1 when winning the battle of the boards ... the Bearcats are 60-0 when scoring 90 or more points under head coach Ben McCollum ... Northwest improved to 136-3 in games decided by 20 or more points under the direction of McCollum ... since the start of the 2011-12 season, Northwest is 153-13 in Bearcat Arena ... over the past five seasons, Northwest is 142-9 overall ... over the past seven seasons, Northwest is 204-14.
