The Northwest Missouri State women's basketball team hits the road this week to take on the McKendree University Bearcats Tuesday night in its final non-conference matchup of the season.
 
Northwest enters Tuesday's matchup at McKendree with a 4-5 overall record and a 0-4 record in MIAA play. McKendree enters the matchup with a 5-4 record and a 3-1 record in the GLVC.
 
About McKendree
The McKendree University Bearcats have a 3-1 advantage over Northwest in the history books. Northwest won the most recent matchup between the two teams which came December 15, 2021. The Bearcats of Northwest Missouri State held McKendree to a season-low 29 points as they were defeated 54-29 in Bearcat Arena.
 
McKendree's five wins so far this season is already two more than they had all of the 2021-22 season. The McKendree Bearcats are averaging 65.7 points per game while their opponents average 60.9 points per game. Evelyn Vazquez is sixth in the MIAA in steals with 24 total and 2.7 steals per game.
 
Jayna Green is 9^th in the conference in blocked shots with nine so far this season and averages 1.0 block per game.
 
Kelsey Fields ranks 3^rd in the MIAA in rebounding with 8.4 rebounds/game.

Northwest is averaging 62.6 points per game while giving up 66.7 points per game to its opponents. Trio of Top 25 Contests for Northwest
Three of the Bearcats five losses this season have come to teams ranked in the NCAA Div. II Top 25 Coaches Poll. The first loss for Northwest this season came to then No. 15 Minnesota State who was most recently ranked No. 6 in the poll. The second Bearcat loss came against then No. 5 Missouri Southern who was most recently bumped up to No. 4 in the nation. This past weekend Northwest faced No. 22 Nebraska-Kearney who handed the Bearcats their third loss to a nationally ranked team this season.
 
Green Closing in on Block Record
Jayna Green has worked her way up to the number two spot on Northwest's all-time career blocks list. Green sits just eight blocks away from tying the record of 122 career blocks that was set by Sarah Vollertsen from 2002-04. She recorded four blocks this past weekend with three against Nebraska-Kearney and one against Fort Hays State.
