Cunningham claims MIAA women's cross country championship

The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's cross country teams competed at the MIAA Championships in Joplin, Missouri. The women's team finished third while the men's team finished seventh.

Caroline Cunningham and Amber Owens took first and second place respectively at the MIAA Championships. Cunningham finished with a time of 20:39.6 and Owens finished in 20:50.5. Alyna Thibault came in 13th (21:52.1), followed by Lydia McGlocklin in 27th (22:23.1), Kaylee Harp was 35th (22:32.8), and Cora Blaue finished 47th (23:00.6).
 
Caroline Cunningham beat her previous school record in the 6,000 meter race. Her record was set earlier this season at 20:42.2, and she recorded a time of 20:39.6 at the 2022 MIAA Championships. Amber Owens' time of 20:50.5 now ranks second all time in the 6,000 meter race. She had set the third best time in school history earlier this season finishing with a time of 21:07.3. Alyna Thibault's time of 21:52.1 puts her at 10th on the all-time record list at Northwest. Lydia McGlocklin now holds the 14th best time after finishing in 22:23.1.

Andrew Atkins paced the Bearcat men finishing 14th overall with a time of 24:35.6. Jake Norris was the second Bearcat to cross the finish line coming in 36th (25:17.5), followed closely by Riley Witt in 40th (25:23.5), Austin Goetsche took 41st (25:23.6), and Trevor Ramsdell finished 48th (25:41.0).
