No. 3 seed Northwest Missouri State will travel to Warrensburg Mo., Friday to compete in the semifinals of the 2022 MIAA Tournament.

The Bearcats (13-4-2) will face the No. 2 seed Emporia State (10-5-4) in the MIAA semifinals for the second consecutive year. Northwest faced the nationally ranked hornets during the 2021 MIAA semifinals and dropped a 2-0 decision. The Bearcats look to flip the script this year.

The winner of Friday's semifinal match between Northwest and ESU will go on to the championship to face the winner of No. 1-seeded Central Missouri vs No. 4-seeded Fort Hays State. The championship match will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov 6.

The all-time series between Northwest and ESU is tied up at 14-14-2. The teams have already seen one another this season as the Bearcats traveled to Emporia, Kan. Sept. 30. The Hornets outscored the Bearcats in a 3-2 decision. That match would later give ESU the tiebreaker for the No. 2 seed in the MIAA tournament as both teams were tied for second in the conference.

Record Breaking Win Streak
Northwest soccer has an eight game win streak going on dating back to the Sept. 30 match against Emporia. The squad has blown out the previous record of five straight wins that had been set two different times in program history.

Seeking First MIAA Tournament Championship Match
Northwest is seeking its first appearance in the MIAA Tournament championship match. The Bearcats are 0-2 all-time in MIAA semifinal matches as they took a 4-0 loss to Central Missouri in 2011 as well as a 2-0 loss to Emporia State in 2021.

With the MIAA quarterfinal win last week, Northwest has now tied the school record for wins in a season with 13. Bearcat soccer set the record of 13 wins during the 2021 season.
