Bearcat women finish 7th, men finish 9th at Central Region Championships

The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's cross country teams competed at the NCAA Central Region meet Saturday morning in Joplin, Mo.

The women's team finished seventh overall out of 35 teams competing, and the men's team finished ninth overall out of 30 teams.

"Both teams ran really well today," said Coach Wick Cunningham. "Every single runner left it all out there and that is all we can ask for."

Caroline Cunningham and Amber Owens continued their dominance this season finishing third and ninth respectively. Cunningham and Owens set the top two times in school history in the 6,000 meter race.

Caroline Cunningham finished with a time of 20:19.6 beating her previous school record she set at the MIAA Championships two weeks ago. Amber Owens also topped her own personal best that was set two weeks ago as she crossed the finish line in 20:36.6. Cunningham erased twenty seconds for the new school record, and Owens shaved off nearly fourteen seconds of her previous best.
