WAYNE, Neb. - The No. 7-ranked St. Cloud State University Huskies secured a four-set triumph over No. 12-ranked Northwest Missouri State University in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament.
The Huskies won by set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 23-25 and 25-21. The Huskies ran their win streak to eight in a row and advanced to the second round of NCAA play. The Bearcats season came to an end with a mark of 24-7 overall.
Northwest hit .155 for the match with 45 kills and 23 attack errors. SCSU hit .282 with 63 kills and 19 attack errors. Both sides tallied 66 digs. Northwest out-blocked SCSU, 10-8.
Sophomore
Payton Kirchhoefer led the Bearcats with a double-double as she tallied 13 kills and 12 digs. Kirchhoefer added three blocks.
Junior setter
Alyssa Rezac also netted a double-double with 36 assists and 12 digs. She tossed in two blocks and a service ace.
Junior
Jaden Ferguson secured a team-high 16 digs and was credited with four block assists.
Freshman
Kate Frakes contributed with eight kills (.333) and a team-high five block assists.
Sophomore
Kristen Ford earned a team-best three service aces.
