Bearcats tie Minnesota State, 1-1; Fall in PK's, 3-1

The Northwest Missouri State women's soccer team faced Minnesota State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Bemidji, Minnesota on a snow covered field. The Bearcats tied the Mavericks 1-1 after both overtime periods concluded. MSU defeated Northwest in Pk's, 3-1.

At the 35:02 mark of the first half, Caroline Sanders found the back of the net with a left footed strike that snuck past the goalkeeper to give the Bearcats a 1-0 lead. Sanders was assisted by Adell Gore. The goal was Sander's first of the season and the assist was Gore's fourth of the season.

At the end of the first half, Northwest led the shots category with eight while only allowing MSU three.

Minnesota State would flip the script in the second half as they came out with a strong attacking presence. In the first twenty minutes of the second half, the Mavericks had already drawn seven corner kicks against Northwest.

In the 65th minute, Minnesota State evened things up at 1-1 off a cross to the middle of the box where another Maverick punched it into the lower left corner of the goal.

The Mavericks were dominant for the entire second half allowing just four shots for Northwest and taking 25 of their own.
