Cunningham sets school mark in 6K at Platte River Rumble; Atkins posts second-best mark in program history.

The Northwest Missouri State men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Platte River Rumble Friday afternoon in Ashland, Nebraska. The women placed 2nd out of ten teams and the men placed 3rd out of ten.

Caroline Cunningham was the first place overall finisher in the women's race with a time of 20:42.2. Behind her was Amber Owens in 3rd place with a time of 21:07.3. Lydia McGlocklin (9th, 21:37.1) and Alyna Thibault (22nd, 22:19.1) rounded out the top 25 finishers.

Cunningham posted a new school record in the 6,000-meter race. Amber Owens notched the third-best time in school history. Lydia McGlocklin notched the eighth-best mark in program history. Kaylee Harp secured the 13th-best time in 6,000-meter history at Northwest.

The women beat out all four of the Division I teams competing (South Dakota, Omaha, Missouri State, Creighton).

Drew Atkins led the way for the men's team finishing 6th overall with a time of 24:01.4. The second Bearcat finisher was Jake Norris in 15th with a time of 24:33.5. Trevor Ramsdell finished 24th overall in 25:01.6.

Atkins secured the second-fastest 8,000-meter cross country race time in program history. Norris posted the 14th-best 8K time in school history.

The men's team beat both Division I teams that competed (Creighton, South Dakota).
