BLUE SPRINGS, Missouri - The Northwest Missouri State University women's golf team placed 10th out of 19 teams in its season-opening Central Region Fall Preview held at Adams Pointe Golf Club.
Northwest entered the final round in a tie for sixth place, but dipped four slots in the team standings on Wednesday. Northwest shot a team score of 320 in the final round. Northwest posted a two-day team total of 632. Northwest's 632 team total is the lowest team score for the Bearcats since producing a two-round total of 630 at the Diffee Ford Lincoln Invite (Kickingbird Golf Course - Edmond, Okla.) on March 11-12, 2019.
Senior
Morgan Thiele drained three birdies on the day and tied for Northwest's lowest score with a round of 78. Thiele scored birdies on No. 3, No. 11 and No. 17. Thiele shot 1-under par on the par three holes for the two-day event with a stroke average of 2.88, which ranked second in the field.
Freshman
Kylie Carey's debut finished with a score of 78 (+6) on the day. Carey ended up at +12 for the two-day event after shooting a 78 to open play yesterday. Carey carded two birdies (No. 9 and No. 12) on Wednesday.
Senior
Anna Zech notched two birdies (No. 12 adn No. 16) en route to an 84 on day two.
Sophomore
Lauren Wood, competing as an individual, secured two birdies at No. 1 and No. 2. Wood shot a final round 84.
The Bearcats will be in action again Sept. 13-14 at the NSU Golf Classic slated for The Club at Indian Springs in Tahlequah, Okla.
