The No. 8 Northwest Missouri State volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win over Purdue University-Northwest. The Bearcats are now 6-1 on the season while the Pride dropped to 1-6 overall.Â
Northwest rolled in the first set to a 25-5 advantage off of a balanced attack from the Bearcats.
Abby Brunssen led the Bearcats with four kills in the set, while
Kelsey Havel,
Rachel Sturdevant, and
Payton Kirchhoefer chipped in three kills apiece.Â
Set two featured a closer matchup, but Northwest maintained control the whole way and took the set 25-19.
Jaden Ferguson led the way with seven kills on 11 attack attempts with just one error. Kirchhoefer added another three kills in the set as well.Â
The Bearcats completed the sweep with a 25-11 victory in set three. Kirchhoeffer held steady and paced the Bearcats with five kills in the set while Havel and Ferguson each had two kills in the set.Â
Kirchhoefer led the way offensively for Northwest, finishing with 11 kills on 19 attempts with just one error for a .526 hitting percentage. Ferguson hit .571 in the match with nine kills and three blocks while Havel finished with seven kills, eight digs, two assists, and a block.Â
Maddy Ahrens finished with a match-high 29 assists to go along with a match-high nine digs. Ahrens also pitched in two kills, a block, and a service ace. Libero
Hannah Koechl finished with eight digs and two service aces to go along with five assists.
Kristen Ford led the team with three aces.Â
The Bearcats finish the weekend in Springfield with a match against Upper Iowa. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
