The first round of the 2021 MIAA Spring Soccer Tournament is set for Thursday, April 22 and the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats will play host to Missouri Southern. The Bearcats earned home field advantage after finishing third in the northwest division of the conference while the Lions finished fourth in the MIAA southeast.
 
The Bearcats finished the regular season 3-3-1 and 2-2-0 in MIAA play after winning their last two games with victories over Washburn (3-2, OT) and Fort Hays State (2-0).
 
Northwest is 17-14-3 all-time against Missouri Southern and 11-5-1 in games played in Maryville. The Bearcats have won the last two matchups against the Lions and six of the last eight.
 
Kick off against the Lions is set for 3 p.m. on Thursday. With a win, the Bearcats could advance to the overall fifth-place match that will be played on Sunday, April 25.
