The Northwest Missouri State softball team dropped a pair of one-run games to Fort Hays State. The Tigers took the first game 3-2 before rallying in the seventh inning of game two by scoring two runs to sweep the Bearcats.Â
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first inning, but the Bearcats produced two runs of their own in the top of the third.

The tie would be short-lived, as the Tigers scored the eventual winning run in the bottom of the third inning, making the score 3-2.
In game two, it was the Bearcats who struck first, scoring a run in the top of the third and two more in the fourth. But Fort Hays rallied by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to even up the game. In the top of the sixth, Jeffries scored on
Olivia Daugherty's single up the middle to regain the lead, 4-3. The Bearcats held the Tigers in the bottom of the sixth. Down to their final out in the bottom of the seventh, Fort Hays pinch hitter Betsy Parmley singled to right field, scoring two Tiger runners in walk-off fashion to take the game, 5-4.
This is the second straight sweep Fort Hays State has completed over the Bearcats in Hays.Â
Jacee Winn was 3-for-6 at the plate on the day with two RBI while
Grace Jeffries was 2-for-4 with three runs scored.
Breck Dickey (5-8) and
Kaitlyn Weis (1-3) each took losses in the circle.Â
