Cardinals top Bearcats, 6-1

LIBERTY, Missouri - The William Jewell Cardinals tallied a 6-1 non-conference victory over the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcat baseball team on Tuesday afternoon.

The Cardinals out-hit the Bearcats, 15-4. William Jewell improved to 10-14 overall, while Northwest fell to 12-15 this season.

Bearcat starter Jonny McIntyre (0-2) saw his first action of the season since Feb. 23. McIntyre pitched two innings and gave up two runs and five hits.

Northwest's Connor Quick delivered a pair of hits and scored the lone run for the visitors. Peter Carlson grounded out to third in the seventh as Quick advanced home. 

The Bearcats will travel to Fort Hays State this weekend for a three-game set against the Tigers. The Bearcats and Tigers are set to play a single game Friday at 5 p.m., followed by a doubleheader starting at noon on Saturday - weather permitting.

NOTES: The Bearcat pitching failed to record a strikeout against the Cardinals ... the last time Northwest failed to strikeout an opposing batter came on March 9, 2015 - a span of 286 games ... Quick posted his 8th multi-hit game of the season the 42nd multi-hit game of his Bearcat career ...  Ryan Koski has reached base in 12 straight games ... Donovan Warren is the midst of six-game hitting streak - the longest active streak on the squad.
