Hiba Mahgoub has been named the MIAA's women's outdoor track athlete of the week. This is the second time this season and third time in her career she has been honored as the athlete of the week.
Mahgoub's (Kansas City, Missouri) performances in the 100m dash, 200m dash and 4x400m relays earned her MIAA honors this week. At the Wichita State Open, she broke the school records for both the 100m dash and 200m dash, previously set by Venus Harris in 1987. Her time in the 100m dash (11.71 seconds) currently ranks third in the MIAA and ninth in the nation while her time in the 200m (23.83 seconds) is second in the conference and fourth in NCAA Division II. Both times are provisional qualifiers in DII.
Mahgoub also ran the anchor leg on the 4x400m relay team that won the event at the Don Suenram Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kansas. Their time of 3:46.39 is the fastest in the MIAA and second overall in DII.Â
