The Northwest Missouri State track and field squads competed at the Wichita State Open, highlighted by
Hiba Mahgoub's record-setting performances in the 100m and 200m dash events.
The women's 4x100m relay team of
Kyah Luhring,
Hiba Mahgoub,
Lexie Gilbert, and
Randi Overkamp ran to a fourth-place finish in 47.35 seconds.
Quinn Weakley took fifth in the discus with a throw of 131-00.
Hiba Mahgoub had another monster performance day. Mahgoub broke Venus Harris' records in the 100m and 200m dash from 1987. Her time in the 100m (11.71 seconds) is a provisional qualifier, as well as her time in the 200m (23.83 seconds).
Bailey Blake and
Quincy McSweeney went second and third in the 800m run. Blake ran in 2:12.33 and McSweeney finished with a 2:13.07. Blake now sits at third for Northwest's best performances, McSweeney also improved her time and is fourth in Northwest history.
Kaylee Harp finished seventh in the event as well in 2:16.96 and entered the Northwest records at tenth.
Amber Owens finished third in the women's steeplechase in 11:20.07, a new personal best.
Delanie Dykes ran for third in the 1,500m run in a time of 4:39.52.
On the men's side,
Prince Griffin took seventh in the 400m dash in 49.12 seconds.
Tucker Dahle took sixth in the men's steeplechase 9:27.84.
Blake Morgan took sixth in the high jump with a mark of 6-06.75.
Josh Warner took third in the shot put with a mark of 51-03.75 and sixth in the discus with a mark of 147-06.
Reece Smith was second in the men's 1,500m run in a time of 3:47.70, which places him third in Northwest history and fifth in DII.
Jake Norris was fifth with in 3:52.70, which is new personal best by .20 seconds and moves Norris into sixth in Northwest history.
Jacob Nkamasai also finished second in the 10,000m run in a time of 30:07.63.
The women's 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay, as well as men's pole vaulters
Ian Richmond and
Addie Edwards will compete at Pittsburg State tomorrow.
