MIAA competition begins this weekend for the Northwest Missouri State soccer team. The Bearcats meet MIAA foe Central Missouri Friday in Maryville for non-conference action before traveling to Emporia for their first conference match against the Hornets.

The Bearcats are 1-0-1 on the season with a 5-4 win over the Jennies on March 5 and a tie against Missouri Western on March 12. Last time against UCM,
Sophie Cissell scored three goals to lead the Bearcats, including the eventual game-winner, while
Kaitlyn Case and
Clara Kidder tallied one goal each.

Central Missouri leads the all-time series (31-6-4) against Northwest; the last Bearcat win coming on Nov. 6, 2008 before the Bearcats knocked off the Jennies in March. Northwest is currently 16-11-2 against Emporia State but have dropped six of the last seven matches to the Hornets. Their most recent contest, a 3-2 loss in double overtime, occurred in Emporia on Nov. 8, 2019.
