The Northwest Missouri State softball team travels to Pittsburg, Kansas this weekend as they meet Minnesota Duluth and Rockhurst in the Pitt State Classic.
The Bearcats will take on Duluth at 10 a.m. Saturday morning before they meet Rockhurst at 5:30 p.m. They turn around and play the same opponents Sunday at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
UMD currently leads all-time contests against the Bearcats, 5-4, with all matchups occurring on neutral sites. The Bearcats' last win came on Feb. 21, 2020 in a 2-1 victory. Northwest leads the all-time series against Rockhurst, 15-5, and is a perfect 7-0 at neutral sites.
Kaitlyn Weis is currently third for NCAA Division II's active career leaders in home runs. Weis has homered 45 times, sitting behind Brenna Busby (Cameron, 50) and Courtney Barnhill (Angelo St., 48) and tied with Kinsie Hebler (Tex. A&M Commerce) on the list.
The Bearcats look to continue their success from last weekend at the Drury Invite where they started their season off 4-0, their best start since they went 4-0 at the Arkansas-Monticello 8-State Classic in 2016 with wins over Rockhurst, Southern Nazarene, Upper Iowa, and Missouri S&T.
