KANSAS CITY, Missouri - The No. 23-ranked Northwest Missouri State University men's tennis team served up a 7-0 victory over Rockhurst University at the Plaza Tennis Center.
Northwest improved its season mark to 10-2 overall, while Rockhurst fell to 3-4.
The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead after capturing victories at No. 2 doubles from
Franco Oliva and
Andrea Zamurri and No. 3 doubles from Fabian Calloud and
Agustin Velasco. Calloud and Velasco ran their doubles win streak to seven in a row.
Only Zamurri was pushed to three sets in singles action as the Bearcats scored a clean sweep of all six matches. Zamurri rallied from a 6-0 loss in the opening set and posted back-to-back 6-4, 6-4 wins in the second and third. Zamurri is 12-0 this spring at No. 1 singles.
Martin Sanchez moved his season mark to 10-2 at No. 5 singles, while Velasco pushed his season mark to 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
The Bearcats will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State Thursday at 3 p.m. in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
