The Northwest Missouri State softball team hosts their first MIAA contests of the season this weekend at Bearcat Softball Field. The Bearcats (7-9 overall, 1-3 MIAA) host Emporia State (13-9, 3-3) on Friday before meeting Washburn (19-4, 5-1) on Saturday.

The Hornets swept Nebraska-Kearney before splitting with Fort Hays State. They also took two losses to Pittsburg State. Washburn has also swept Pittsburg State and Nebraska-Kearney and split with Fort Hays State.

So far this season, the Bearcats have six players who are posting batting averages at or above .250 and four players with an on base percentage of .333 or above.

Abby Nolte, and
Olivia Daugherty also each have slugging percentages above .500.

The Bearcats are 21-51 all-time against Emporia State and tied 9-16 when playing in Maryville. The Hornets have won nine out of the last ten contests with the last Bearcat win coming on April 21, 2017 in Maryville. Northwest trails the Ichabods in their series, 56-42 and 21-14 in games played at Bearcat Softball Field. Washburn has won the last six games with the last Northwest win occurring on April 23, 2016 in Topeka.
