MARYVILLE, Missouri – The No. 18-ranked Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team kept with its winning ways with a 3-0 sweep of the Park University Pirates on Senior Night at Bearcat Arena.
Northwest (9-2 overall) won by set scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-12. Park, ranked No. 2 in the latest NAIA poll, fell to 19-3 overall.
Jaden Ferguson led the Bearcat attack with 11 kills and a .579 hitting percentage.
Payton Kirchhoefer also posted 11 kills with a .350 hitting percentage.
Hannah Koechl earned a match-high 11 digs.
Kristen Ford registered a match-high four services. Northwest had nine service aces in the match.
Northwest hit .380 for the match with 44 kills and only nine attack errors. Park was limited to .077 hitting with 23 kills and 16 errors.
Park led 6-5 before Northwest went in a 5-0 run to take a 10-6 lead. The Bearcats continued the run and pushed it to 10-2 which led to a 15-8 advantage in the opening set. Ferguson had an exclamation point kill for the set point to give Northwest the set, 25-16. Ferguson led the way with five kills (.714). Northwest belted out a .364 hitting percentage with 16 kills and four errors in the set, while Park hit just .161 with 10 kills and five errors.
Northwest ran away with the second set in a 25-11 romp. The Pirates hit -.029 with six kills and seven errors. Northwest tallied 11 kills to go against three errors (.258). Ferguson added three more kills in the second.
Hannah Koechl posted a team-best six digs.
The Bearcats closed out the 3-0 victory with a resounding 25-12 win in the third set. Northwest hit .536 in the third set with 17 kills and two errors. Ferguson gained three more kills in the third set on five swings. Kirchhoefer knocked down a team-best five kills in the third.
