TOPEKA, Kansas – The No. 18-ranked Northwest Missouri State University volleyball team rolled to a pair of three-set sweeps of No. 24-ranked Central Missouri and unranked Pittsburg State Saturday at Lee Arena on the Washburn University campus.
Â
Northwest took it to Central Missouri in a 25-20, 25-17 and 25-20 victory.
Â
"I thought we started and finished the match with a very aggressive mindset," head coach
Amy Woerth said. "Our serving kept their offense from working well and our offense had very few unforced errors. Overall, it was a match where we executed our game plan to a T."
Â
The Bearcats continued their torrid play with a 25-13, 25-16 and 25-18 triumph over the Gorillas to cap their day.
Â
"Honestly our offense overwhelmed their defense today," Woerth said. "We were very aggressive from start to finish. I thought our defense also made some great touches to win some long rallies that helped to take the momentum away from them."
Â
The Bearcats are 8-2 overall and 3-2 in MIAA North matches this spring.
Â
Northwest will be back in action at home Tuesday against Park University at 6 p.m. in Bearcat Arena. The Bearcats will celebrate Senior Night by honoring
Bethany Elkins and
Morgan Lewis.
